Solid at home

Possible starting line up: Varas, Coke, Spahic, Fazio, Caceres, Trochowski, Medel, Navas, Rakitic, Moral, Negredo. Sevilla. Sevilla home form is solid in the last period. They have three victories in the last four matches. Sevilla won 2:1 against Valencia (11.01.2012), 2:1 against CD San Roque de Lepe (20.12.2011) and 3:0 against Getafe (05.12.2011). The first two victories were in the Spanish Cup, while the third in La Liga. The only defeat came from the leader Real Madrid. Sevilla coach Marcelino has a good news before this match. He has almost all players available as only the defender Fernando Navarro is suspended. Manu del Moral is back from suspension, while Jesus Navas and Frederic Kanoute are expected to be fit.

Without two key players

Possible starting line up: Casilla, Lopez, Moreno, Rodriguez, Didac, Romaric, Forlin, Weiss, Verdu, Bifouma, Alvaro. Espanyol managed to stay unbeaten against Barcelona in the last round. The goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez was the player of the match. He had many brilliant saves last week. But in the finish of the match he suffered a muscle tear and was replaced. It is expected the relatively unknown Kiko Casilla to start against Sevilla and I am sure it is a handicap for the Catalan side. Casilla is inexperienced and Sevilla strikers will put him on big pressure. But the goalkeeper position isn`t the only problem for the coach Mauricio Pochettino. He will also miss the striker Sergio Garcia due to suspension after picked up his fifth yellow card. By the way, Sergio Garcia is Espanyol leading scorer with 5 goals so far. It is clear this is another handicap for Pochettino. Finally, Felipe Mattioni and Javier Marquez are both sidelined.

Sevilla should win

I expect Sevilla to win here. I watched Espanyol last Sunday and I must admit they disappointed me. Yes, they created some chances against the World best team, but they were poor in the defense. The fact is that a combination of luck and referee`s mistake (the referee didn`t see a clear penalty for Barcelona in the finish) prevent them from the defeat. Now Espanyol travel to Sevilla without two key players - the regular goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez is injured, while the team best goalscorer Sergio Garcia is suspended. I see no chance for Espanyol here.
