Difficult task

New year started well for Nurnberg, they entered it with a win against Hertha at home, 2-0. But in the second round, when they had to show that better days are coming they have lost in Hannover, 1-0. Of course it is not the end of the world and Hannover really is a better side but after this round, Nurnberg could be in big trouble. They will host Borussia Dortmund at Easy Credit Stadium and if the match ends in an expected way, they will be near the edge of relegation zone. On the other hand, they will have a chance to escape again in next rounds as they will be playing against Augsburg and Koln, their direct rivals for staying in Bundesliga. They are just an average squad, with 3-3-3 score at home and neutral goal difference (12-12). They will miss important defender Timm Klose, as well as Per Nilsson, Pinola and Balitsch.

Chasing Bayern

Three wins in a row brought Borussia Dortmund to the top of the league table. They are on second position but with same amount of points as Bayern Munich and Schalke – 40. This week, they will have a big chance to take the first position and leave their rivals at least two points away. Bayern will have a difficult task in Hamburg as they are underperforming lately and Schalke will host Mainz that is flying high after an impressive win last week. So, a win in Nurnberg could really mean a lot to Klopp’s side. They are playing very well lately, 3 consecutive wins, with 12-3 goal difference and two of those were away from their home. They will miss only Gotze.

Another win

There are three reasons for which I have chosen this pick. First one is the quality, Nurnberg showed that they can’t really cope with top squads as Bayern or Schalke and I rate Dortmund better than those two at the moment. Second one is the importance of this match, as Nurnberg will have matches against direct rivals after this one. On the other hand, a win here would possibly take Dortmund to the top of the table. Third is the history of meetings between these two sides. Borussia Dortmund won all five of their last meetings, and four of those were with more than one goal of difference. So, to summarize, I see a clear away win here, and I will not touch the handicap line as I think the price offered for straight win is quite good. High confidence in this one, so high stakes.
