Premier League match preview: Norwich City - Bolton

Home comfort for Norwich

Norwich City will be looking to return to winning ways at Carrow Road when they entertain lowly Bolton Wanderers on Saturday and put behind them their midweek mauling at Sunderland. The Canaries went down 0-3 at the Stadium Of Light which ended their four match unbeaten run. They will now turn their attentions to grabbing all three points against a wobbling Bolton outfit and they will certainly be happier to be back in front of their home fans for this clash. Norwich’s home record stands at a decent 4-4-3 17/15, and they have failed to score on just three occasions, whilst keeping just one clean sheet so far this season. Strikers Steve Morison and Grant Holt are their leading scorers and I have no doubt they’ll be confident of getting on the scoresheet against their visitors today. Norwich also possess some key players in midfield that are capable of making something happen such as Pilkington, Surman, Crofts and Hoolahan.

Bolton keen to pull away from bottom three

Bolton go into this match on the back of frustrating Arsenal at home in their midweek 0-0 draw, but their away form is usually weaker, whilst producing goals at the same time. No fewer than 10 of their 11 away matches so far have ended in over 2.5 goals, and playing against an attacking Norwich City side should ensure this trend continues. Bolton’s away record stands at 4-0-7 14/22, and they too will be looking for all three points to pull away from the drop-zone as they currently sit one place and just two points above their Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers. Bolton also possess players capable of creating and scoring goals in Kevin Davies, Ivan Klasnic (7 goals, 4 assists), midfielder Chris Eagles (3 goals, 3 assists) and new signing striker Marvin Sordell from Watford.

Expect goals

Both teams will be looking for three points, Norwich for a response to their defeat at Sunderland, and Bolton to pull away from the bottom three; this should result in goals so I’ll back the Over 2.5 option here.
