Morecambe take on a Torquay United side who will be aiming to build on their recent momentum in order to reclaim their play-off positions. Mid-table Morecambe were briefly in the top places of League Two at the start of the season but since then have dropped to mid-table with neither promotion or relegation on their minds. Overall, they’ve won just one league game in the last ten matches, with no home wins in the last five matches at their Globe Arena ground. The Shrimps’ home record stands at an unremarkable 3-4-6 22/19, and have beaten only one top seven team so far which was an early season 6-0 victory over Crawley Town back in September. Midfielder Kevin Ellison (10 goals, 1 assist) is their leading scorer and grabbed the lat equaliser at Bradford last weekend to earn The Shrimps a valuable point. Forward Danny Carlton (6 goals, 4 assists), Lawrence Wilson (5 goals, 4 assists) and Stewart Drummond (4 goals) have all chipped in with goals and assists, along with midfielder Izak Reid (1 goal, 4 assists).

Gulls strong away from home

Visitors Torquay United are on a four match unbeaten run in League Two which has included wins over in-form Swindon Town along with away wins at west country rivals Plymouth Argyle and a 2-1 win at Macclesfield Town. The Gulls’ away form has also been pretty solid recently with just one loss in their last five road matches and wins at Crewe as well as the aforementioned Plymouth and Macclesfield. They also drew at Port Vale. Torquay’s key players are forward Rene Howe (7 goals, 3 assists) and midfielder Lee Mansell (7 goals, 3 assists), along with striker Eunan O’Kane (4 goals, 6 assists) and Kevin Nicholson (4 goals, 2 assists).

Gulls could nick it

Morecambe’s poor run of form suggests that Torquay have a very good chance of walking away with something here, and I’ll take Torquay with the round ball on the chance that they win. Could be a draw in which case we get our stake back. Torquay to nick it 1-0 perhaps.
