Unlucky to reach the semifinal

Macedonia won 22:19 against Serbia in the last match of the group 1 and took the third place. Denmark managed to win against Sweden and qualified for the semifinal. Anyway, Macedonia took the third place after the last victory. That match was not too hard for Macedonian players as Serbia already secured the first position in the group. Because of that coach Veselin Vukovic rested some of his best players. The goalkeeper Stanic didn`t play at all. However, Macedonian coach Sundovski has no such luxury and he must play with the best. Kire Lazarov was the player of the game with 10 goals, while Vanco Dimovski scored 3 goals. Filip Lazarov, Naumce Mojsoski and Stoilov scored 2 goals each, while Alushevski, Zlatko Mojsoski and Temelkov scored one goal. Once again Macedonian players had great support from the fans. There were more then 10.000 Macedonian fans in Belgrade`s Arena.

Important match

Slovenia played a dramatic match against Spain in the last round of the group 2. Slovenia lost 32:35, but Hungary failed to win against Croatia in the last match (24:24) and leaved the third place to Slovenia. Anyway, my opinion is they deserved it, after all Slovenia won 32:20 against Hungary. Slovenia have one extraordinary player, Dragan Gajic. He is the second best scorer on this European Championship with 44 goals. But Slovenia have other good players too. Luka Zvizej scored 7 goals against Spain, Sebastian Skupe 6 goals, while Miha Zvizej 4 goals and Peter Pucelj 3 goals.

Macedonia should win

This is very important match, a victory here will not bring only the fifth place in Europe, the victory here will bring qualifications for Olympic games in London. And I think Macedonia is closer to the victory. Both national teams are good, they know each other very good. Simply, there are no secrets between ex-Yugoslavian countries. So, what is the crucial reason for my pick? Well, the fans. There will be more then 10.000 Macedonian fans in Arena. On other side there will be few hundreds Slovenian fans. Macedonian players are full of confidence at the moment, while that can`t be said for Slovenian players. The atmosphere in the Macedonian squad is very positive. Imagine this, Aco Jonovski broke the nose against Poland, but he played against Serbia without protective mask. The doctors strongly adviced him not to play, but he decided to take the risk. Simply, there is a chemistry between the players and the fans here. And that is why I believe Macedonia will win.
