In-form Leyton Orient play host to bottom of League One side Chesterfield at Brisbane Road as Russell Slade’s men look to build on their recent home win over league leaders Charlton Athletic. In fact it’s four wins from the last six league matches for Leyton Orient with notable wins over Charlton Athletic and Stevenage recently back-to-back and they have duly pulled themselves away from immediate relegation danger. They will surely be expecting another home win here also against Chesterfield who have not travelled well at all this season and are four points adrift at the bottom of the league. The O’s home record stands at 4-3-6 14/18, and it’s just one loss in their last eight home matches which was a 0-3 deficit against fifth placed MK Dons which is a big improvement on the first half of the season where they lost their first five home matches on the trot! Midfielder Dean Cox (6 goals, 5 assists) and former Charlton front man Kevin Lisbie (6 goals, 2 assists) leads the goalscoring, along with midfielder Jimmy Smith and forward David Mooney (3 goals each), while the latter has also chipped in with 4 assists as well.

From bad to worse

Chesterfield’s season seems to be going from bad to worse as their recent 0-2 loss at home to Exeter City last weekend put further daylight between them and another relegation enemy. Time is starting to run out for the Spireites as they enter the slippery slope of the second half of the season still seven points adrift from safety and Walsall. In addition, they have now not won for sixteen league matches as the rot appears to have well and truly set in and the Derbyshire outfit are now staring almost certain relegation in the face unless they can dramatically turn things around and fast. The Spireites’ away record stands at 1-2-9 16/29 which means they’ve taken only 5 points from a possible 36, while also possessing the worst defensive record away from home in League One. This has obviously prompted the loan move for West Brom right-back James Hurst to the ranks and is expected to be in the squad to travel to Leyton Orient on Saturday. Experienced forward Craig Westcarr (6 goals, 6 assists) leads the scoring but he was replaced by Derek Niven at the weekend so he may be doubtful for the trip. Jack Lester (2 goals) and Danny Whitaker (2 goals, 2 assists) are finding goals hard to come by, while Jordan Bowery (3 goals, 2 assists) has also contributed.

Leyton Orient should be too strong

If Chesterfield are without a fully-fit Craig Westcarr I think they can kiss goodbye any chances of getting anything at Brisbane Road as he is a pivotal player for them. That said, Leyton Orient have really turned things around recently and should be too strong for their visitors today even if Westcarr does feature; I’ll back a 2-1 home win for The O’s here at a very good price.
