Scottish Premier League match preview: Inverness - Hamilton

Not a bad start

In 2 rounds played in the SPL, Inverness managed to put a serious challenge to Celtic, despite losing 0-1 in the first round and simply demolished Dundee Utd away last round, after a spectacular performance. They’ve also got past Peterhead in the League Cup in the midweek, after an easy game ended with a concluding 3-0 win. Defender Ross Tokely recovered after an injury and, although it looked impossible few days ago, he could start the game from the bench. Chris Innes, Gil Blumenshtein and Richie Foran will be out for this game, but coach Butcher could count for this game on Kevin McCann and Dani Sanchez, who recovered from injuries.

Some problems

Hamilton is bottom of the SPL after two heavy defeats, both 0-4 against Aberdeen and Hearts. They had a terrific run last spring and this could look like a surprise, but actually it isn’t. Eight players from the team who performed wonders at the end of the last season are missing. Amongst them, important players like Alex Neil, Mark McLaughlin and David Elebert are long term injured while Martin Canning is suspended after being sent off against Hearts. Last week, Stuart Elliot and Jack Ross were released by the club by mutual agreement. Last week, they’ve urgently signed Dutch striker Nigel Hasselbaink and defender Andy Graham and, given the current squad problems, they could make their debut tomorrow. On top of it, Hamilton lost in Carling Cup in the midweek against First Division outfits Raith Rovers.

Home win

I know that Hamilton never lost a league game against Inverness but I strongly believe the situation will change since tomorrow. Both teams are going in different directions and Inverness definitely has the upper hand. The odds for the home win are dropping already but it still can be found some good value in them. Home win for me. Good luck!
