Steady Hearts at home

Hearts take on top of the table Celtic in Wednesday night’s fixture at Tynecastle Stadium with both teams looking to extend their lead over their immediate rivals; in Hearts’ case they will want to move ahead of St Johnstone who are level on points with them and close the gap on third placed Motherwell, while Celtic will want to extend their lead over Rangers to four points with a win in Edinburgh tonight. Hearts have been steady at home so far this season with a record of 8-0-4 23/9, and will be looking for a fourth successive home win following wins over Dunfermline 4-0, Motherwell 2-0 and St Mirren 5-2. They’ve also scored in all but 3 of their home matches so far. Former Southampton midfielder Rudi Skacel (7 goals) leads their scoring while others like John Sutton (1 goal, 4 assists), Andy Webster (3 goals) and Stephen Elliott (3 goals) have chipped in. Winger David Templeton (2 goals, 5 assists) is rated as doubtful. However, Hearts will be incentivised to put in a better performance following their last match where they lost 0-1 at Inverness.

Hoops looking to extend lead at top

Celtic will be searching for an incredible thirteenth straight win when they make the trip to Edinburgh tonight, and their away form has been strong with a record of 9-1-2 22/10, and are unbeaten in their last seven matches on the road which includes six straight wins. They’ve kept a clean sheet in their last five on the road, but as with all runs this must come to an end sometime and I’m backing this is the game to end that particular run. The Hoops have plenty of firepower in the form of strikers Gary Hooper (12 goals), Anthony Stokes (9 goals, 8 assists) and James Forrest (6 goals, 4 assists) along with Joe Ledley, so I’m expecting them to score at least one goal also.

Both teams have the incentive to win this match for their own reasons so I’m backing both to score at pretty good odds.
