Los Periquitos in great shape

It`s been a great couple of weeks for Espanyol since mid-December, as Mauricio Pochettino’s team have won 8 points in the last 4 league rounds and have secured the tickets for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. Los Periquitos have defeated Atletico Madrid (4-2) and Gijon (2-1), added a golden point in the Catalan derby against Barcelona (1-1) and hold Sevilla to a scoreless draw at the Sánchez Pizjuán on last weekend, while in the Copa del Rey, they eliminated Celta Vigo (4-2 on aggregate) and Cordoba (5-4 on aggregate).

Amazing season

Mirandés is the surprise package of this season`s Copa del Rey edition, as they are the only club outside Primera Division still alive in the competition. They are playing their football in Segunda División B – Group 2 and so far, they have had an amazing season, having lost only once this therm, while they`ve already left out of the Copa del Rey big names like Villarreal and Santander. Away from home, they achieved some remarkable results, as they are yet to lose a game, while they won at El Madrigal (2-0).

Fairy tale to come to an end

Mirandes have twice surprised La Liga sides this season, however, I feel that their fairy-tale will come to an end. Los Periquitos are in superb form lately, they won`t make the mistake to underestimate their opponents, they are playing very confident at their Cornellà-El Prat (13 goals scored in the last 4 home matches), they always paid respect for this competition (4 time winners) and they have a golden chance to advance to the semis as this is the easiest opponent.
