Ecuador probable formation: Máximo Banguera; Gabriel Achilier, Jayro Campos, Frickson Erazo and Walter Ayoví ; Antonio Valencia, Segundo Castillo, Oswaldo Minda and Fernando Saritama; Christian Benítez and Jaime Ayoví. Coach Reynaldo Rueda. Ecuador is a strong and asphyxiating team when they play at the altitude of Quito. In spite Ecuador is having some difficulties to play good and descent football (against Venezuela and Paraguay they showed very little) their biggest advantage is the altitude. Players that aren’t used to this lack of oxygen, can´t offer their 100%, giving a huge advantage to lethal players like “Chucho” Benitez, Ayoví or even midfielder Valencia with his long powerful shots.

Perú probable formation:Raúl Fernández; Renzo Revoredo, Santiago Acasiete, Christian Ramos and Walter Vílchez; Edwin Retamozo, Carlos Lobatón, Jefferson Farfán and Juan Vargas; Claudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerrero. Perú is having a great time with the new coach Sergio Markarian. After a 3rd place in Copa America, the goal now is to be in the next World Cup. They offered an excellent game against Paraguay in Lima, (2-0 win) and they also played a good match against Chile (4-2 loss). To avoid the altitude problem, Perú has been training in Arequipa, about 8000 feet. The team shouldn´t suffer much in Quito.

Peru has 4 elite players than can make a difference: Farfan (Schalke 04), Vargas (Fiorentina), Pizarro (Werder Bremen) and Guerrero (Hamburgo). Those 4 will command the attack against Ecuador. They managed to score twice against Paraguay and twice against Chile. Guerrero, Pizarro and Farfan are tall, with a good air game and great headers…the weakest point of Ecuador. I think Peru will score at least 1 goal. A sure bet that pays nicely.
