EHF Champions League match preview: Cimos Koper - Metalurg

In good form

Cimos Koper is sharing the second place in the group C with Metalurg. Both teams have 9 points from 7 matches and both teams have almost secure the progress. Cimos Koper is in good form, they managed to play 25:25 with Wisla Plock as guests. Brumen and Krivokapic are Koper`s main players, just as Skube. Koper is very good at home, they lost only from the best team in the group, Hamburg. The result was 23:24.

Without Rakcevic

Metalurg is shaken by one bad news - Mladen Rakcevic is out for the season. He injured the crucial ligaments in the last match against Nexe in Nasice, Croatia. Plus, Metalurg lost that match with 29-27 and that was the first defeat in SEHA league for Metalurg. Coach Lino Cervar has limited option on that position as he left with only one line player, Vanco Dimovski. To be the situation even worse, Vanco Dimovski has just recover from the injury (broken foot) and he is not fully prepared. So, I see big problems for Metalurg.

Hosts should win

I expect hosts to win. I already wrote about Metalurg problems. Rakcevic is out, his replacement Dimovski is not 100 percent ready and can`t play the full game, so Metalurg have no line player. But that`s not all. Metalurg had a hard match against Nexe on Tuesday in regional SEHA league. They had a long trip with bus from Macedonia to Croatia (and back) in heavy conditions (snow weather makes lot of problems those days in the whole Europe) and the players are surely tired. According to Metalurg officials, the referees tolerate lot of bad starts from Nexe players. Rakcevic is heavily injured, while some other players have injuries too. In situaion like this I believe Metalurg have no chance in Koper.
