Third visit to Wembley?

Cardiff are looking to secure a third visit to the Wembley in five years, having previously lost the 2008 FA Cup final to Portsmouth and having been beaten by Blackpool in the 2009/10 Championship Play-Off final. They are having a very good campaign with Malky Mackay at the helms, sitting on third place in the Championship rankings, just one point behind a direct promotion berth. They have lost only 4 league games all season, less than any other Championship side, while they have only failed to score in four of 34 matches in all competitions this term. 9W 2D 2L is their home record this season, including a 2-0 win over Palace on last November.

Living the dream

Just 18 months ago, Crystal Palace was on the brink of bankruptcy and a Carling Cup final on Wembley would have seemed as an utopia. However, dreams came true for the Eagles, as they have put behind them the financial problems and the club have gone from strength-to-strength since then. Dougie Freedman`s lads hold a narrow advantage thanks to Anthony Gardner`s first leg goal (1-0), so not losing at the Cardiff City Stadium or even a defeat by 1 with goals will suit them perfect. On last league game against Blackpool, several first-team players have been rested, so the lads should have fresh legs.

Home win

There is not much to separate these sides and I expect a balanced affair, however, I will give Cardiff the edge here. They are very strong playing on their home ground (9 wins in 13 league games), they boast a very productive attack (44 goals scored comparing with Palace`s 26 goals tally and they have a real puncher in the like of Kenny Miller (9 league goals this season). Furthermore, they are without defeat against Palace at home in the last 7 matches (3 wins and 4 draws), so I expect them at least to grab a win, if not to qualify.
