Looking to build confidence

The hosts are sitting second from the bottom in the Premier League standings, so they will need to improve their form if they are to avoid relegation. Bolton did show some signs of improvement lately, winning at Blackburn (2-1) and Everton (2-1) and sharing points with Wolves (1-1) in their last 4 rounds, before a 0-3 away trash at Manchester United. The Trotters will welcome Liverpool and Arsenal into back-to-back home games, so Owen Coyle will use this match to build some confidence for the league. Defender Gary Cahill has completed his move to Chelsea, while Coyle stated that he will make changes, but not as many as he did last time.

Fourth division side

Macclesfield are sitting on 15th place in League Two are one of the 4 fourth level clubs still in the competition. They have never progressed further in the FA Cup and have never defeated a top-flight club before. This is their second trip to the Reebok Stadium this season, having lost the previous visit in the League Cup (1-2). Bolton to advance

The hosts, who reached the Wembley semi-finals last year, are hot favorites to advance for the 4th round of the FA Cup. Coyle stated that he will field only first team players and that should be way too much for such a modest opponent like Macclesfield. They already played twice this season, so they won`t be a surprise for Bolton.
