Match preview: Turk_Telecom - Crvena_Zvezda 2010-02-09 (Eurocup)

Bad situation

Turk Telecom isn`t a bad team at all. which they proved in their last TBL match when they visited mighty EL side Efes Pilsen and lost only by 8, being tied for the entire first half and eventually dropping down and allowing the hosts to break them. Their best player in that match was Acik, but the good thing about this team is they`ve got a lot of quality players and in every new game somebody else can step up and put up a good performance. Some of their best players are Dudley, Mallet, Lang and Besok, while Acik, Wilson, Erdogan all create one all-rounded team, which usually doesn`t pay to much attention to the defense, and they`re currently 2nd worst defending team in the Eurocup. They lost their first two games in the top 16 phase, and if they don`t win here, they might have to say goodbye from qualifying further.

Disappointed

Everybody expected Crvena Zvezda to continue their great run of results in the game against lowly Siroki in their local NLB league, when they traveled to Bosnia, but they failed big time and lost the game by comfortable 15-point difference. Most of the players played that game without passion but that is maybe because this team is still unstable and is prone to oscilations and variable form. However, they`re generally on an uptrend, their coach Trifunovic knows what he`s doing and they are fully focused on the Eurocup as that`s their chance to get to Euroleague after many years, and I think they will play their best in Turkey and show a much better performance than they did a couple days ago.

Equal game

This will be a clash of two pretty equal teams, I do think Zvezda possesses more talent and quality but the fact TT will play at home makes these two sides equal and in such a situation, any kind of spread bigger than 3 points is worth trying. Both sides will be very motivated to do well at this game, TT is gonna try to keep their chances in EC alive, while Zvezda will attempt to come back after an embarassing defeat from the past weekend. Zvezda already proved they can play great basketball, their form is on the rise, while TT proved they sometimes can`t handle the pressure and tend to lose close games. I`d try Zvezda`s straight win, but I will try to see how they do at this game and possibly back them in the future matches. So the bet on them to cover should be sufficient for now.
