Match preview: Manchester_City - Hamburg 2009-04-16 (UEFA Cup)

A road to nowhere

Manchester City is a solid side full of excellent but badly composed players. I think that regardless of the fact they’re playing this fixture at home and have scored an away goal, they won’t manage to score two goals and maintain the lead throughout the whole 90 minutes. Hughes has apparently lost the very last chance to win some trophy this season but will surely give his best to prepare his players for a miracle. In my opinion, they’re only left to hope for a well-famous saying “miracles happen”. Robinho, Elano, and the rest of the “superstars: can never find their rhythm and play one decent game, not even hard-working Ireland’s efforts can be of use as he doesn’t have the proper support of his teammates. “The Citizens” will have to play the best game of their season if they wanna do something, but sometimes even that’s not enough.

Keeping the advantage

Great Hamburg have a very solid advantage from the first leg, and they’ll even be happy with a goalless draw today but I don’t think they will stop at that, cause as most of the people know the Germans and their teams always play to outscore their opponent and with a very serious approach. Olic, Petric, Guerrero, Trochkowski and the rest will surely be going for a win tomorrow at Manchester’s stadium. They’ll be seeking their chances to score from counter-attacks but also great individuals as Guerrero, Petric and others can resolve the game with just one move. Martin Jol’s team goal is clear – to win the UEFA Cup.

A fight

This match guarantees a great fight between two really good teams. The Germans have a solid advantage as well as the desire that the Brits lost on their way back from Hamburg last week. I think that tomorrow, unlike in the first leg, we could be seeing fewer goals but my advice is a straight away win as I believe Hamburg will not let the Citizens stop them in their tracks towards the UEFA Cup title and will punish every Manchester’s mistake that will definitely result from their open play.
