Match preview: Hamburg - Hannover 2009-04-19 (Germany 1. Bundesliga)

Marching to the top

Hamburg lost their last two matches, but I don’t think that matters too much at this moment. At the last visit in Bremen, Hannover had a 1:1 result until the 80th minute and then it seemed they will again win some points. However, the host Werder scored 3 goals on them in the last 10 minutes of the game, which again proved they lack quality and maturity in their game. They are a completely different side at home, and we noticed they can play great their, despite their 4:1 loss to Werder a week before, and they beat Hertha 2:0. I don’t say this squad doesn’t have the quality, the losses come consecutively and there really isn’t chance for this team to beat someone away. However, they travel to every match with the goal of winning. They will fight hard but they’re aware they will have problems getting even one point from this match. Regarding the absences, Fahrenhorst, Cherundol, Schlaundraf and Jakov will still be out, and they’re all pretty important players.

Hamburg are using their chance

Hamburg is a big club who has all the rights to hope for the Bundesliga title. They will have to use this chance, as their today’s rival plays really poor away from home. The guests are also very weakened with the absences of a few regulars, while Hamburg is without bigger squad concerns, and after losing to Bremen, I think Hannover is awaiting another debacle and a loss by at least two goals difference.
