Match preview: Djokovic - Haas 2009-07-01 (ATP Wimbledon)

Bad play on grass

Novak plays much better on clay than on grass. He has difficulties to accommodate for playing on grass and that is consequent of training conditions in his early tennis education. He has problems with sliding and that can cause carefully playing because of injury fear. However, English newspapers count on him for this year winner of Wimbledon. In Halle final, he lost from today opponent, Haas, but he didn’t play on satisfying level. On Wimbledon, he has played well until now, but all opponents have been not so strong. Haas is the toughest opponent until now and he is in great form for sure.

Haas catching last train

Tommy Haas had a lot of injuries and accidents in his long carrier. His unquestionable talent has been doubtless, but because of pauses, results were missing. In this season, he has made some good results. On Roland Garros, he lost in fourth round against Federer after 2:0 leadership, and in Halle tournament he has win trophy after match against today opponent and with that he announced successful Wibledon. In London, he has showed winning mentality in match against great Croat, Cilic, where he won match in five sets. In next match, he has demonstrated great physical condition and won against Andree 3:0. In next match he has to play offensive because he hasn’t any chance from base line. He has the biggest advance in his experience for sure.

Better form will decide

Djokovic is bookies’ big favorite at this moment and that isn’t reality on the court. Novak is better placed player on ATP list, but Haas is in better form and that is very important. Match will be very equal, but this is last chance for Hass in his carrier and he will be much more motivated and because of that he will take predominance.
