Cercle on a roll

Cercle have been overperforming in 2010. In 2009 they had some bad luck at times and results werent all that good. But in 2010 things changed. They had that extra luck to win matches and striker Foley seemed to find the net very easily now. I must admit Cercle isnt playing much better football than a couple of months before. But 2010 have been 1 succes story so far. Winning against Standard, eliminating Anderlecht in the cup. Coach DeBoeck even talked about first play off group, but that is off course insane as Cercle wont keep on winning. If i am correct i think Cercle also reached semi final of the cup last year. But now they surely wanna advance to the final. And what better team to play against than Roeselare. They played each other on saturday. Cercle won with 2-0. I think this first leg wont be that easy. As Cercle will have much more nerves and Roeselare also wanna play a cup final. But home advantage can be crucial here.

Competition or Cup

Roeselare bought some decent players during the winter break. Field play is much better than in 2009 and results should also be a bit better now. Roeselare will surely focus fully on competition, but playing a cup final is also very important for the players. They played against Cercle last week and lost. When they were 1-0 down, Roeselare missed a penalty. Cercle had the better chances and better play, but if they scored that penalty we could have had another game. I wont be surprised if coach Van Wijk gives some rest to some key players as Roeselare have a very important game against Kortrijk on saturday.

Small home win

I am not very fond on betting on cup games as anything can happen. So i will lower stakes a bit (normally i play flat stakes 5/10). But i predict a small home win here, maybe a 2-0 again as home advantage have been very important in the earlier stages of this cup and Roeselare prefer staying in first division than playing a cup final.
