Match preview: Andreev - Monaco 2010-04-26 (ATP Masters Rome)

Not in shape

Igor Andreev is in a pretty bad shape at the moment, and even though he is always giving his best efforts on the court and putting in a fight in each match, he is incapable of recording good results and breaking his opponents. He is having a much worse first half of this year than last season, as this year he has really poor results on the American hard courts unlike the last year when he even had a few quarters and semis. Right now, he is a guy that can lose to anybody, while he doesn`t really play powerful tennis and makes quite a lot of unforced errors, which makes him very easy to beat. He is only 48th in the world ranks, which is pretty poor for his standards but he is still looking to improve, however, I think that at the moment he can`t get far in any tournie, especially not at the Masters such as this one. bet now

Juan Monaco is a clay specialist but he`s had a few pretty solid results this season on hard as well, such as the 3rd round of AO and the Indian Wells Masters quarterfinals, where he was defeated to latter winner Ljubicic,while his performances on clay in between those tournaments was outstanding and he had one final in Santiago, and two semis in Buenos Aires and Acapulco respectively, while the transition after the American tour back to clay didn`t result too well as he lost to Berrer in the 2nd round of Monte Carlo. He is a top 30 player in terms of quality so his 24th spot is totally justified, and I`m pretty sure he will rise his form again now as RG is quickly approaching and he needs to have more warm-up matches before it begins, plus the fact he is defending the quarterfinals from Rome last year says he will give his best not to lose many ATP points and get far yet again. online betting

Monaco to cruise

Although many people might expect a tight affair here, I`m gonna go for the opposite as I believe Monaco has got the necessary quality to dispose Andreev at the moment, as the Russian is in a pretty bad shape right now and I just don`t see how the Argentinean will even lose one set here. His Monte Carlo elimination doesn`t mean much as he recently arrived to Europe after the U.S. tour and was still readjusting, while I expect him to show a good performance here already. He is leading their mutual H2H 3-2, while Andreev won their last match, played exactly in Rome 2 years ago, back when the Russian was in good form, while now I think he won`t stand many chances in rallies, and will lose this match quickly with his numerous UEs, poor movement and in my opinion, lack of interest he`s been showing lately.
